Tobacco and Asthma Facts

A research has revealed that infants who came in contact with cigarette smoke prior to their birth or in the initial months are more inclined towards a greater danger of getting asthma and allergy.

Although, it is quite an acknowledged truth that infants get affected by tobacco smoke in various ways, however it has always been hard to demarcate the influences of the women smoking throughout their pregnancy and passive smoking effects after birth.

Studies prove that smoking throughout pregnancy augments the probability of the child getting asthma. The study also proved that infants whose mother smoked throughout their pregnancies doubled the jeopardy of their children developing asthma from an early age. Thus, it should be noted that there is an obvious connection between the quantity of cigarettes smoked and the jeopardy of getting affected by asthma.

Apart from asthma, studies also prove that passive smoking during the early babyhood elevates the danger of allergy. It is considered that the most inviolable connection was detected for antibodies against cat allergens that were double as frequent in these children whose mother smoked during their pregnancies.

As cat allergens are present almost everywhere, this remain to be the most top concerns of all the doctors and researchers. Hence, the chances increase among such children to develop chronic asthma and allergy from an early age.

Surveys also reveal that smoking during pregnancy is not a general thing among the highly knowledgeable people. Hence, premature revelation to tobacco smoke can induce chronic diseases such as asthma and allergy in the children.
